Restorative Dentistry » Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are a good option for many individuals. You may learn about the need for them when you come in for a traditional check-up. Our patients rave about the benefits of having these in place because they offer such an immediate improvement in the way their smile looks and feels.

What Are Dental Bridges?

They work to fill in a gap from missing teeth between healthy teeth. Bridges are fixed to your teeth. Generally, they are held in place by the teeth located to the right and left of a gap. We make them from a durable resin material that is colour to match the existing teeth. That ensures they look very natural. We can also improve the teeth on either side of the gap to make them match the bridge and to keep them healthy.

We anchor the bridge of false teeth to the existing teeth on either side. This creates a strong, durable hold. This fills in the missing teeth you may have.

Who Needs Bridges?

Bridges are ideal for those who have missing teeth. They also work when several teeth are decaying and require removal. If you do not want to have partial dentures or implants, bridges are another option for filling in those spaces.

What Are Bridges Made From?

There are several types of bridges that we may use. However, in most cases, they are made from porcelain, which creates a very natural appearance. Another option is to use a metal alloy that is bonded to porcelain for stronger bridges. Ceramic and porcelain bridges offer the best look and therefore are often what we recommend.

How Long Do They Last?

In most cases, bridges will last 10 to 15 years. However, for this to happen, you must maintain your teeth and the bridges through proper oral care. This includes regular dental check-ups.

Should I Get Dental Bridges?

We recommend coming in for a consultation with our cosmetic dentistry staff. We will help to determine if bridges are a good option and the type best for your situation. In no time, you could have a great looking smile you can be proud of.
